With purpose and values as your foundation, you are finally able to take control of your health and weight from a place rooted in your identity, rather than whatever weight loss fad is currently being promoted by diet culture. Making the decisions we make because it's 'who we are' is stable, timeless, unshakeable, like a rock. Making decisions because it's the 'hot new diet' is shifty, shady, never sticky, and usually causes even more weight gain. I know what it’s like to feel out of control around food, to feel owned by it, trapped by it, and robbed of the very joy it’s supposed to create. I spent 20 years and carried 100 extra pounds there, and it’s not fun. Every social occasion, holiday, and trip is a bargaining-agenda, wrought with trade-offs about which indulgences we’re going to cave to, and which ones are worthy of guilt-free enjoyment (hint: there's not many).
